Help Me Decide On A Project For This Month
As mentioned in my new year resolutions post, I am going to complete 12 projects this year, 1 a month. What this means is that I better get cracking with my first project for January. I have decided that this month I will develop a new WordPress plugin. I have had a few ideas over the past few months for various different plugins, but still cannot decide on which plugin to develop. So, I though I would ask for your feedback.
Here is a list of potential plugins that I am thinking of developing. Some may even already be available or do something similar to an existing plugin. I am also open to new suggestions!
- Complete Monetization Plugin. This plugin would do everything you need to monetize your blog including click tracking, adding of affiliate datafeeds to posts, managing ad blocks etc etc.
- Lifestreaming Plugin. Yes, there are a few available already but I want something that does more than the current ones available. Including a few custom themes similar to the sweetcron theme.
- Caching Plugin. I have also wanted to develop a new caching plugin that extends on the current plugins available but has much better support for working with other plugins than the existing WordPress caching plugins have.
- Automatic Plugin Updater. Thanks to Marcel_Perform for this suggestion. This plugin would automatically update all your plugins automatically without the administrator having to do anything. Perhaps using a cron job or something like that. Very cool idea
- Your Plugin Here. I would love your suggestions before I make my final decision.
There we have it! Let me know what you think and if any of the above plugins tickle your fancy.

I would have to vote for either the Automatic Plugin Updater, since I can’t be bothered to update the plugins myself
, or the Complete Monetization Plugin.
Either one of those would be helpful to me.
Thanks for the feedback Joel!
Thats 2 votes for the Auto Updater and one to the Monetization Plugin
I’d like the Lifestreaming Plugin. Thanks mate
Just left you a comment at http://iarematt.com/mobilepress-enable-the-mobile-web/ about my personal experience with mobilepress… I think it would be great if you could coordinate with Donncha to make wp-supercache work with mobilepress, instead of rewriting yet another wordpress plugin… just my 2 cents!
cheers
I vote for the Automatic Plugin Updater…it would help me a lot! and you, I guess, lol. Save you some time as I don’t do it in any case!
I suggest that the Automatic Plugin Updater sends an email when a plugin has been updated, or a log of which ones were updated, for security reasons.
